This privacy notice describes the privacy practices of Last Letter First, including the website (www.lastletterfirst.com), the web app (app.lastletterfirst.com) and the iOS and Android apps (together, “Last Letter First”). It tells you:
- What personally identifiable information we collect from you, how we use it and who we may share it with.
- What choices you have about the use of your data.
- The security procedures that protect your information from misuse.
- How you can correct any inaccuracies in your information.
- How you can delete your data.
Who we are
Last Letter First is operated by Allegiance Technology Group Inc, S.T.E.A.M Building, 279 Central Avenue, Albany, New York, 12206, USA. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected].
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected through Last Letter First. We collect information you give us when you interact with us, such as when you register, play games, join or create tournaments, take part in surveys or contests, or contact us. We also collect gameplay and usage information as described below.
We will use your information to respond to you about the reason you contacted us, and to provide and run the game.
From time to time, and only with your consent, we may share your contact information with selected partners so they can tell you about products or services we think may interest you. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Unless you ask us not to, we may email you in the future about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.
We partner with Google, Microsoft, Mixpanel, OpenReplay, Usetiful and other vendors to capture how you use and interact with us through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replay, to improve and market our products and services. Usage data is captured with first-party and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies, to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. We also use this information for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, advertising, and other improvements. Session replay records what you see and type, including the words you enter during play. Session recording is also part of our fair-play checks, and some games require it.
Gameplay and Typing Data
When you play a word, we capture and analyze information about the keys you press.
We use this data to detect bots and automated play, to keep games fair, and to improve the game. We do not use it to identify you, to verify who you are, or to create a biometric profile. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers.
We keep this data only for as long as we need it for these purposes. We may periodically delete the full key-by-key record and keep only the summary statistics.
We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in preventing cheating and automated play and in improving the game. You can object to this processing by contacting us (see “Your Rights” below).
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do this yourself using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by contacting us. You can do any of the following at any time by contacting us at [email protected]:
- See what data we have about you, if any.
- Change/correct any data we have about you.
- Have us delete any data we have about you.
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
Your Rights (EEA and UK players)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Our service providers may process your data outside the EEA/UK. When they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account in the app deactivates it. To have your personal data deleted, contact us at [email protected] (see “Deleting your Data” below) and we will delete or anonymize it, unless we must keep it to meet a legal obligation. Typing data is kept as described under “Gameplay and Typing Data”.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information through Last Letter First, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us securely. On the website, you can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and “https” at the beginning of the web page address.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers that store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Registration
You can play Last Letter First as a guest without giving us your name or email address. Many features require you to register. During registration you are required to give certain information (such as your name and email address). This information is used to run your account and to contact you about the products and services you have shown interest in. If you sign in with Facebook, Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from that service, such as your name, email address and profile picture. If you turn on notifications, we store a device token so we can send them to you. If you make an in-app purchase, we receive a receipt from the App Store or Google Play to verify it; we do not receive your payment card details.
Your username and profile picture are visible to other players wherever you appear in the game, including games, leaderboards and tournaments. Other players can also see when you were last active and your general location (such as your city or country), so they know when you are likely to be available to play. We detect your general location automatically from information provided by your device and connection.
Cookies
We use “cookies” on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.
Some of our business partners may use cookies on our site (for example, advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies.
We show ads on the website and in the apps. Our advertising partners (such as Google) may use cookies or your device’s advertising identifier to show you personalized ads. On iOS we ask for your permission first, and on any device you can limit or reset your advertising identifier in your device settings.
Sharing
We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
Links
This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
Tournaments, Surveys & Contests
When you join a tournament, your username, profile picture and tournament results are shown to other players on tournament leaderboards, and we may notify you about your standing (for example, when another player passes you). If you create a tournament, the name and description you enter are reviewed by us and shown to other players.
From time to time we may also request information via surveys or contests. Participation in tournaments, surveys and contests is completely voluntary, and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. If a tournament or contest offers prizes, we may ask the winners for contact information (such as name and shipping address), payment details and, where required by law, tax information (such as a W-9 for US winners) so we can award them. Surveys may ask for demographic information (such as zip code and age level). Survey information will be used to monitor and improve the use of, and satisfaction with, Last Letter First.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will notify you by email or in the app.
Deleting your Data
If you would like your data deleted, please submit a support request at https://lastletterfirst.com/support/ or email us at [email protected].
If you feel that we are not abiding by this privacy policy, please contact us immediately by email.
